Losing weight

What more popular topic is there then losing weight?

To do that for your body, I’m passing you off to my buddies The Wise Guys. Tell them I sent you and have a blast with Leo and Michael who know all about losing fat but while keeping muscle.

Here's what I'm thinking about: Did you know plastic bottles are going on "diets" to make them "skinnier?" I didn’t much think about fat bottled water bottles until I saw this billboard in downtown Boston; imagine a tape measure around the hourglass shaped “waist” of Aquafina.™ brand bottled water. 50% less packaging! Imagine how good that is for the environment because in 2006, the Pacific Institute estimated that it took 17 million gallons of oil just to produce the bottles of bottled water. Seth Godin thinks 50% less weight is a good business move too.

At 10.9 grams, the Eco-Fina Bottle is made with 50 percent less plastic, eliminating an estimated 75 million pounds of plastic annually. Good job PepsiCo! (We promise not to say too much about all those the Gatorade, soda, vitamin water, etc bottles though!)

However great “skinny” bottles seem, we still have the problem of the real gas-guzzler: Shipping the actual water.

The Pacific Institute reports in their Bottled Water and Energy Fact Sheet: After the 17 million gallons of oil needed to product the plastic bottles, "more energy is needed to fill the bottles with water at the factory, move it by truck, train, ship, or air freight to the user, cool it in grocery stores or home refrigerators, and recover, recycle, or throw away the empty bottles. The Pacific Institute estimates that the total amount of energy embedded in our use of bottled water can be as high as the equivalent of filling a plastic bottle one quarter full with oil."

I’m not for a minute going to knock bottle water as a preferable healthy choice to sodas, juice drinks, coffee drinks, etc when we’re unexpectedly out and about. But for our daily activities, if you want really pure water (see our last post), it’s really easy to filter the water from your tap, bundle it up in a stainless steel water bottle, and be on your way!

We can help make it easy to filter your water, increase your natural abilities to stay healthy, and take along the water. Click here for our special August Water and Health package good through August 28, 2009. We’ll throw in a free Buta Full Life stainless steel water bottle as our thanks for your commitment.

If you have a family our best bet recommendation is the MTS filtration system - 800 gallons of water with one filter that’s changed only once a year). We’ll thank you with up to four free BFLI bottles for your family. Offer ends August 28, 2009.

Enjoy the summer!
